The Project: Creation of self-sufficient group of individuals from a base of those whose lives had been socially, politically and racially difficult. Use of participatory action and collective creation methods were used to create an environment of ideas from which were drawn stories or events that were represented in performance. The performance became the interface between the recipients of the welfare system (the performers) and the administrators of the system (the audience).
Results: production of a performance that was not only self-sufficient in financial terms, but was growing in financial potential as it became adopted as a useful tool in the education programmes of the social welfare departments that were the subject of the piece.
